Alan V Friedman, Mediator

Alan V. Friedman is a mediator with the Los Angeles firm Signature Resolution. For many years he was a partner in the Los Angeles firm of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP representing private and public employers in all aspects of labor relations and labor and employment law. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, he received his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University Law School, and an LL.M. from the Georgetown University Law Center. Mr. Friedman served in the office of the Solicitor of the U.S. Department of Labor and has chaired the Civil Service Commission of Los Angeles. He was labor relations counsel to the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee.

Mr. Friedman is a member of the American Bar Association, the California Bar Association, and the Los Angeles County Bar Association (Labor and Employment Law Section). He is the former editor of the ABA publication, Law Notes, covering labor law issues.

Mr. Friedman is also a fellow of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and on the Board of and past president of both Bet Tzedek (House of Justice) Legal Services Foundation and the Constitutional Rights Foundation, which engage in civic education of youth across the country.

In October 1999, Mr. Friedman was appointed by the joint leadership of the United States Congress to the Board of Directors of the Office of Compliance. His current term with the Office of Congressional Workplace Rights expires in 2020.
