Occupational Safety and Health Coordinator Shonda Perkins came to the Office of Congressional Workplace Rights with experience in both the government and private sectors.
Prior to joining the Office in July 2013, Ms. Perkins served as secretary to the Colonial Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers. She also served on the Prince George, Va. Emergency Planning Committee. Ms. Perkins worked at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, as the Safety Coordinator. In the private sector, she worked as the Safety and Security Manager for Perdue Farms, where in her first year she helped reduce recordable injuries by 50 percent and improved the annual safety audit score to 99 percent. She has numerous advanced post professional safety training including electrical training, confined space training, fire inspection and codes.
Ms. Perkins has a bachelor’s degree in industrial distribution and logistics from East Carolina University (ECU). She has a master’s degree in occupational safety from ECU.
